It's true that the sound emissions of an operating pool play a significant role in long term comfort both day and night. First and foremost let's remember that great progress has been made in this area, for both pumps and heat pump. If you are disturbed by the noise made by your pool, you must first find the source of the noise before looking for the solutions.

Different noise issues arising from your pool

If the pool is in the house (indoor pool) or very close to it, it is highly likely that the plant room is too. But even with an outdoor pool, noise levels may be too high. The first question: what type of noise are we talking about? A pool may generate noise from hydraulic (circulation in pipes), mechanical, electrical (motor), air handling (ventilation and cooling), or any other equipment. Step one is to identify the source.

• A high-pitched whistling indicates an issue with water in the bearings, which is quite simple to stop.
• A low frequency thrum is often related to a motor or ventilation issue. If vibration occur, the first thing to do is isolate your pump by purchasing an anti-vibrant mat. Highly effective and reasonably priced! If the mat is not sufficient, you can also install sleeves at the pump input and output to stop vibrations being transferred to the pipes.
• If the hydraulic network is the root of the problem, unfortunately this is often due to poor design of the piping. The only way to remedy this issue is to replace your pump with a variable-speed pump. By then pairing this with a cartridge filter, head losses in the system will be lower than if a sand filter is used.
